Marks & Clerk has once again been recognised as a leader on the global intellectual property stage in the recently released, highly respected, IAM Patent 1000 rankings.

38 professionals from 13 offices were recognised for their outstanding contribution across the firm’s global network - an increase on last year’s rankings. The firm was again listed as a leader in its field within Patent Prosecution, Litigation or Transactions in each of the three continents it has offices.

Furthermore, Marks & Clerk is delighted to be part of a select group of firms to be listed under the EPO rankings with the highest distinction of Gold, as well as being listed as a Recommended International firm.

The IAM Patent 1000 is commonly regarded as a definitive ‘go-to’ resource for those seeking to identify world-class patent expertise as the. As with previous years, IAM undertook an exhaustive qualitative research project to identify outstanding firms and individuals across multiple jurisdictions. When identifying the leading firms, factors such as depth of knowledge, market presence and the level of work on which they are typically instructed were all taken into account, as well as positive peer and client feedback.

Asia Pacific

Marks & Clerk Hong Kong is Highly Recommended for Prosecution

“Marks & Clerk’s Hong Kong office is part of an expansive international network advising multinationals on protecting their IP rights. Consisting of patent practitioners from eight jurisdictions, the group is fully capable of drafting and prosecuting patents as per different regions’ specifications. Of particular note is that it has recently cultivated a thriving plant variety work in Greater China.“

Marks & Clerk Malaysia is Highly Recommended for Prosecution

“The Malaysian outpost of Marks & Clerk is renowned for the strong technical backgrounds of its employees.”

Marks & Clerk Singapore is Gold for Prosecution

“With virtually all disciplines on lock, only few outfits can match the technical capability of Marks & Clerk. Domestic research institutes and international players alike flock to the doors of its polyglot, multicultural cadre. A record-breaking total of seven patent attorneys at the Singapore office have been featured on our prosecution table this year.”

Europe

Marks & Clerk France is Recommended for Transactions and Prosecution

“Marks & Clerk is one of the largest and most prolific patent firms Europe-wide, and as such it has developed a robust French offering, with 30 IP-dedicated lawyers, engineers and consultants.”

Marks & Clerk England is ranked Gold for Prosecution, Silver for Litigation and Recommended for Transactions

“It is a top choice for patent prosecution, including both filing and oppositions, but impresses in litigation and transactions too, making it a rare one-stop shop on the UK market. As one source testifies: “Having worked with multiple suppliers over the years, we have found M&C to be top among the handful of firms who can reliably and professionally supply us with IP services across a sufficient breadth of subject matter and in sufficient depth. The team have shown extremely high levels of competence in patent matters across our diverse technology range. We highly appreciate their willingness to patiently interpret our early stage technologies, and to work toward creating protected positions for us, while taking into account the specifics of our sector.””

Marks & Clerk Scotland is ranked Gold for Prosecution

“Marks & Clerk is one of the largest and most prolific patent practices in England, and the same is true north of the border. With both patent attorneys and solicitors on deck, the outfit offers a cradle-to-grave service out of a trio of offices in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen. Universities and their spin-outs are a focus, as is the food and drink sector, though such is its size, the ensemble ably covers all industries.”

North America

Marks & Clerk Canada is ranked Silver for Prosecution

“Marks & Clerk can respond to any patent issues swiftly and effectively no matter where they occur, thanks to the strength of its 17 international offices. Its Canadian offering – primarily based out of Toronto and Ottawa – is hailed by peers as “a top practice”

The firm extends its warmest congratulations to all the individuals honoured:
