Helen is a lawyer and a Canadian Trademark Agent based in the Marks & Clerk Toronto office and a member of the trademarks group. Her practice focuses on trademark searching, prosecution, and contentious proceedings.
Helen works with a diverse range of clients, both domestic and international, from innovative startups to established global enterprises, to help them protect and enforce their intellectual property rights. She has extensive experience advising on trademark protection and enforcement across various industries, including technology, healthcare, and fashion. Her international background enables her to bring practical insights to clients’ global portfolio management, including in relation to Madrid Protocol filings and prosecution strategies, as well as trademark enforcement in Canada and overseas.
Prior to joining Marks & Clerk in 2022, Helen had gained approximately eight years of experience in the Canadian trademark field, through articling at a local IP firm and assisting with trademark prosecution and portfolio management at an IP boutique in Canada.
Helen obtained her LL.B. in China in 2012 and is proficient in Mandarin, including written Chinese. She also holds two Master of Laws degrees from Osgoode Hall Law School, earned in 2014 and 2020, respectively.
Helen is an active member of International Trademark Association (INTA) Trademark Office Practice Committee, and International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI). She also serves on the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers (FACL) Women’s subcommittee.
