M&C in the news: Scotland-Massachusetts Bio-Bridge welcomed

Marks & Clerk was featured in Scottish Legal News today following the launch of the new Scotland-Massachusetts Bio-Bridge, an initiative designed to strengthen collaboration between Scotland's growing life sciences sector and one of the world's leading biotechnology and healthcare innovation hubs. Supported by funding from both the UK and Scottish governments, the programme will facilitate exchanges, partnerships and investment opportunities between organisations on both sides of the Atlantic.

Commenting on the initiative, Richard Gibbs, Office Managing Partner of Marks & Clerk's Glasgow office and a life sciences specialist, described the Bio-Bridge as an exciting opportunity for businesses operating in the sector. He highlighted the potential for the programme to strengthen connections between Scotland's thriving life sciences ecosystem and the globally renowned innovation community in Massachusetts, creating new opportunities for collaboration, investment and commercial growth.

Richard also noted that the initiative aligns closely with both UK and Scottish government ambitions to drive economic growth through innovation. By creating stronger links with the Boston and Cambridge life sciences ecosystem, Scotland-based companies will gain greater access to international expertise, investors and commercial networks, helping to accelerate the development and commercialisation of new technologies and healthcare innovations.

The launch reflects the growing international profile of Scotland's life sciences sector, which already includes more than 700 businesses and exports worth approximately £4.9 billion.
