Walter is a lawyer and registered Canadian Patent Agent in the Toronto office of Marks & Clerk Canada. His practice focuses on patent prosecution, opinions, and counseling, and covers a broad range of biological, chemical and pharmaceutical technologies. He provides strategic guidance to solo inventors, start-ups, universities, and multinational corporations seeking patent protection in Canada and abroad, and he is passionate about crafting patent strategies that respond to commercial objectives.
Before joining Marks & Clerk, Walter practiced patent prosecution at a leading Canadian intellectual property law firm and managed the intellectual property portfolio of a Canadian public research university. He obtained a doctorate from Stanford University, where his research concerned the development of catalytic asymmetric methods for organic synthesis and the total synthesis of biologically active natural products.
