Phang is a Registered Malaysian Patent, Trade Mark and Industrial Design Agent.
After graduating from UNITEN in 2003, he worked as an engineer in a few local and world-renowned multinational companies, including Panasonic. Phang furthered his studies in Yuan-Ze University (YZU) of Taiwan, where he obtained an MSc in Communications Engineering.
He returned to Malaysia upon completion of the Master’s degree and ventured into the field of Intellectual Property in 2012. He served in several prominent Intellectual Property (IP) firms in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, before joining Marks & Clerk in 2021.
Phang is well-versed in Intellectual Property matters, and his range of expertise includes electronics, telecommunications, mechanics, software and systems. He has wide experience in conducting patent searches, drafting patent specifications, responding to office actions, performing freedom-to-operate analysis, and advising clients such as Universiti Teknologi Petronas (UTP), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB), Universiti Malaya (UM), Fisheries Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Telekom Malaysia Berhad, and Panasonic.
He is fluent in English, Malay, Mandarin, Cantonese and Hakka, and has basic knowledge of Japanese.
