Noëlle is a Registered and Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in the UK, as well as a qualified South African Solicitor and Trade Mark Attorney (non-practising). With over a decade of experience in intellectual property law, she became fully qualified in the UK after relocating to Scotland from South Africa in 2019.
Specialising in intellectual property law, Noëlle has extensive expertise in both contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters. Her practice encompasses trade mark searching, filing, and prosecution, alongside all aspects of brand enforcement, including opposition proceedings, cancellation actions, infringement disputes, advertising complaints, social media issues, domain name disputes, and company name objections. Additionally, Noëlle has significant experience in copyright law, unlawful competition matters, and the niche area of Protected Geographical Indications (PGIs), advising clients on the protection and enforcement of geographically distinctive products.
Noëlle’s client base includes multinational corporations, emerging brands, and startups, with a particular focus on helping brands scale from their initial stages to established industry leaders. She has built strong expertise in guiding businesses through every phase of their growth, from laying solid intellectual property foundations to expanding globally. Noëlle works with a diverse range of clients across various industries, including fashion, beverage, oil and gas, agricultural technology, mining, engineering, retail, and sports sectors.
Currently, Noëlle primarily serves clients in Scotland, with a focus on the Food and Beverage, Sports and Entertainment, and Fashion and Retail industries. Before joining Marks & Clerk, Noëlle gained invaluable experience at a law firm in South Africa, where she honed her skills in global IP practices, further enhancing her expertise in niche areas like counterfeit goods and PGIs.
