Emma is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney and she handles the preparation, filing and prosecution of patent applications in a range of chemical fields. Emma has particular experience in handling patent applications relating to pharmaceuticals, medical devices, oil & gas technology and polymers.

Emma joined Marks & Clerk in 2013 after completing a DPhil in Organic Chemistry at the University of Oxford, under the supervision of Professor Steve Davies. Her research focused on the asymmetric synthesis of amino polyol-containing compounds including amino sugars, imino sugars and complex natural product fragments. She has previously also obtained a First Class MChem degree in Chemistry from the University of Oxford. During the summer prior to starting work at Marks & Clerk, Emma undertook an internship in the patent department of a large industrial chemistry company.
