Elise Cant is an Associate based in Marks & Clerk's London office. She joined the firm as a Trainee Trade Mark Attorney in November 2022.
Before joining Marks & Clerk, Elise worked within the Technology Transfer Department of a university, gaining experience of the management and commercialisation of intellectual property. She subsequently worked as a Trade Mark Paralegal at a London-based law firm.
Her academic background combines intellectual property law and science. Elise graduated from Queen Mary University of London with a distinction in Management of Intellectual Property, graduated from Nottingham Law School with a distinction in the Professional Certificate in Trade Mark Practice and also holds a Post Graduate Certificate in IP Law. She additionally holds a BSc in Biology from the University of Southampton.
Elise's combination of academic and practical intellectual property experience helps her provide informed support on trade mark, domain and wider IP matters.
Elise is an active part of the M&C’s fashion and retail and food and drink teams and works with dynamic fashion and food brands to develop their trade mark protection and enforcement strategies.
Elise has experience working with client’s in the finance sector, advising on expansion and re-branding as well as complex co-existence and licencing arrangements.
Elise has advised on domain name disputes, successfully securing the transfer of infringing domain names through proceedings involving both generic top-level domains (gTLDs) and country-code top-level domains (ccTLDs).
