Esther has been with Marks & Clerk LLP since joining as a trainee in 2001 and became a partner in 2011. She is also the office managing partner of the firm’s Birmingham office.
Commenting on her appointment, Esther said: “It is a privilege to take on this role for Marks & Clerk. I have been with the firm for 22 years and I am proud of its talented and committed trade mark team, where we work with fantastic brand holders both in the UK and globally. As a management team and as a firm, we are aware that the role of the trade mark attorney is constantly evolving and there are opportunities but also challenging times ahead. I want to support the team and add value to our clients as Marks & Clerk continues to support the IP industry at large.”
Esther takes over from Tom Farrand, who is moving to a consultancy position within Marks & Clerk LLP. Tom said: “the team have worked hard to support their clients and develop their skills and expertise through and beyond the Brexit period. The Trade Mark industry is going through a period of change and I know Esther will successfully steer the team as Marks & Clerk continues to be an industry leader in the IP field.”
Simon Mounteney, Managing Partner for Europe, commented: “Marks & Clerk has the reputation, resources and people to advance and protect its clients’ intellectual property rights to the highest levels. Esther’s appointment further establishes our commitment to find and foster the right people to drive our business forward, enrich our global team, further understand and benefit our clients and support the intellectual property industry as a whole."
