Peter is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney, and has 30 years of experience in the patent profession. He has been a partner of Marks & Clerk since 2005.
Peter specialises in drafting and prosecution of patent applications, and advising on patent infringement and validity issues. His work covers a mixture of lithography, software, electromechanical systems, electrical systems and optics.
Peter leads Marks & Clerk UK’s electronics and engineering attorney group, and is responsible for ensuring that attorneys with the right technical qualifications and expertise work for each client of Marks & Clerk. Peter is also the leader of a group of attorneys across Marks & Clerk’s international offices that specializes in patent and design work for Chinese companies.
He has extensive experience of managing teams of attorneys that work for large clients of Marks & Clerk. Peter has worked as an in-house patent attorney at ASML Netherlands B.V., and has a good understanding of the pressures that apply to in-house patent attorney teams.
Peter graduated with a first class degree in Physics at the University of Birmingham, and then obtained a PhD at St Andrew's University. His PhD was sponsored by the telecommunications company BT Group, and related to laser optics and semiconductor waveguide structures for use in telecoms applications.
