Thomas Prock is a Partner and German, European and Chartered (UK) Patent Attorney, as well as a UPC Representative, based in London. He advises clients on patent matters across a range of high technology sectors, with a focus on medtech, electronics, software, artificial intelligence and internet-related technologies.
Thomas has worked in the medical devices field all of his adult life, starting at the coalface of care delivery, in an engineering context and since then as a patent attorney. Thomas has, moreover, pioneered advise on IP protection in the Additive Manufacturing / 3D Printing field and has been invited to speak at European Patent Office conferences on the intellectual property challenges associated with this technology.
His experience includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications relating to semiconductor storage devices, data processing, autonomous robots and communications technologies, mobile telecommunications, and medical imaging. He also advises on contentious matters, including opposition and appeal proceedings before the EPO and patent litigation.
Thomas holds a PhD in Medical Physics from the Institute of Cancer Research and a Diploma in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Applied Science in Ulm (Germany). He qualified as a European and Chartered (UK) Patent Attorney in 2007 and as a German Patent Attorney (Patentanwalt) in 2014.
In the LMG Life Sciences Guide 2014, Thomas is listed as a ‘Life Sciences Star’ for his work in the medical devices area. He is also commended in the inaugural Who's Who Legal - Patent Agents, which refers to him as a “definite inclusion on any list”.
