Overview & Expertise

Sam is an Associate and Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney based in the Oxford office. He advises on patent drafting, prosecution and opposition matters, with a particular focus on technically complex and interdisciplinary inventions.

He has a strong interest in technologies at the interface of biology and physics, supported by extensive experience in patent prosecution in the field of bioinformatics. His background enables him to analyse and protect inventions involving data‑driven life sciences and related technologies.

In addition to drafting and prosecution work, Sam advises on European Patent Office opposition proceedings for both patentees and opponents and has experience supporting IP audits and due‑diligence exercises. This experience helps clients assess patent risk and portfolio strength.

Sam holds a BSc in Natural Sciences (Biology and Physics) from Durham University and an MRes in Molecular Biophysics for Medical Sciences from King’s College London. He has also completed postgraduate studies in intellectual property law and IP management at Queen Mary University of London.
