Robin Oxley is Chair of the Board of the International Marks & Clerk Group. Robin has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent portfolios across multiple jurisdictions, including Europe, the UK, the US and Australia, and regularly collaborates with partners worldwide. He advises a broad range of clients, from entrepreneurs and growing companies to multinational organisations, providing commercially focused and practical intellectual property guidance.
He is experienced in contentious matters, including opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office, as well as UK court proceedings. Robin also maintains a strong international practice, with regular engagement with clients in Japan and the wider Asia region.
His technical experience spans automotive and tyre technologies, LCD display systems, mechanical and civil engineering, power generation, cryptography, medical implants and the beverage sector. He holds MA and MSci degrees in Natural Sciences from Trinity College, Cambridge, specialising in Physics alongside Chemistry, Mathematics and Physiology.
Automotive sector — advised a multinational automotive business on European patent strategy for software-related and business method innovations, helping shape filing approaches across multiple jurisdictions and providing strategic guidance on preparedness for the Unified Patent Court framework.
Industrial and engineering sector — advised on intellectual property ownership, control and collaboration arrangements arising from international research partnerships, helping secure and manage rights in jointly developed technologies across Europe and Asia.
Food & drink sector — supported the launch of innovative new products by coordinating multi-jurisdictional freedom-to-operate assessments, IP protection strategies and contractual reviews, enabling stakeholders to make informed commercial decisions based on a clear understanding of risk and opportunity.
