Peter is a Chartered (UK) and European Patent Attorney in Marks & Clerk’s chemistry team, based in Manchester. He advises on the drafting and prosecution of patent applications for chemical inventions, with a particular focus on nanomaterials, polymers, and sustainable technologies. He also undertakes Freedom to Operate reviews, helping clients assess risks and make informed commercial decisions.
Peter works with a broad range of clients, including multinational corporations, SMEs, and universities. He is recognised for providing practical, commercially aware advice tailored to the technical and strategic needs of each client.
His experience in polymers includes prosecution work relating to novel materials, as well as improved processes and applications in consumer, technical, and industrial products, including inks, packaging, foodstuffs, medicines, coatings, adhesives, and civil engineering materials. He also has significant experience drafting and prosecuting applications relating to nanomaterials, including nanomedicines and quantum dots.
Peter holds a PhD in Nanoscience from the University of Manchester (2016), where his research focused on developing novel polymers for nanofibrous bone tissue scaffolds. He also holds an MSci in Chemistry from the University of Bristol (2012), including industrial experience as a medicinal chemist and research in supramolecular chemistry.
