Paul is a Registered Patent Attorney in Australia and New Zealand, and a Registered Trade Mark Attorney in Australia. He holds a Masters degree in Intellectual Property Law from the University of Technology in Sydney, and Masters and PhD degrees in Electronic Engineering from the University of Sheffield. Paul’s PhD thesis focused on improving the performance of LEDs and lasers using nanostructures, particularly directed to gallium nitride (GaN) emitters in the visible spectrum.
Paul has extensive experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications in the engineering and electronic fields, and has managed large portfolios of patent applications for clients covering all major IP offices around the world. Paul has particular experience in the materials science, medical device, semiconductor, engineering, and software fields.
Prior to joining Marks and Clerk Singapore LLP in 2024, Paul spent 6 years in New Zealand working at one of the largest IP firms in Australasia, and 3.5 years working for a large UK IP firm. Before joining the patent profession in 2014, Paul co-founded a semiconductor processing and development spinout, which went on to be the UK’s leading full-service compound semiconductor development and fabrication company.
