Melissa joined Marks and Clerk in 2022 as an Associate Patent Attorney after four years of experience at another patent attorney firm, where she qualified as a Chartered UK Attorney. She is based in the Oxford office and is part of the software and electronics team.
Melissa has experience drafting, prosecuting and opposing patents across a diverse range of areas including bioinformatics, AI, medical devices, and mechanical engineering. Her clients include large multinational companies through to SMEs and start-ups. She also has experience providing advice on freedom to operate and patentability.
After graduating from Imperial College with an MSci in Physics in 2011, she completed a DPhil in Systems Biology at Oxford and was then awarded a post-doctoral fellowship in Computational Biology at the University of Sao Paulo, Brazil.
