Claire is a Partner and Chartered UK Trade Mark Attorney with more than fifteen years in practice, who leads the Trade Mark Practice of Marks & Clerk’s Cambridge office.
Claire’s practice covers various fields including financial services, engineering, software, apparel and retail, medical devices and diagnostics, and to date she has handled filing and prosecution of trade mark applications in more than 160 countries/territories worldwide.
Claire is one of the firm’s subject matter experts, being an active member of the firm’s Financial Services Leadership Team, and also part of the firm’s MedTech Sector Group. She is considered by colleagues to be an expert on UKIPO procedural matters (particularly opposition and invalidation matters) as well as complex international filing strategies and ownership update recordal projects.
As a Trade Mark Attorney, Claire’s specialism lies not in the technical understanding of a client’s product, but in understanding and steering their branding strategy, from name selection and clearance through to filing strategy, to ensure that their trade mark portfolio is as robust as possible, and within their budget.
Claire has been recognised in the Legal 500 rankings for 2024, 2025 and 2026, and also the World Trademark Review’s WTR1000 rankings for 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. Anonymous client feedback cited in these rankings describe her as: having a strong mastery of the subject matter and a keen understanding of the client’s business needs; responsive, professional and enthusiastic; incredibly knowledgeable; and “always excellent”.
