Jen is an Associate Patent Attorney in the Electronics team at Marks & Clerk in London, having joined the firm in 2022. She has gained experience in patent prosecution across a wide range of fields, working on technologies relating to machine learning/AI, telecommunications networks, radar imaging and antenna systems. She has developed a particular focus on prosecution of subject matter close to the borders of patentability and is adept at determining prosecution strategies to obtain optimal protection for clients.
Jen has successfully drafted a number of patent applications aimed at different jurisdictions, handling inventions across a range of different complexities for multiple clients. She has further experience in FTO and search review work and is experienced in handling complex and wide ranging recordal projects on her client's behalf.
Jen is a key part of the firm’s Unitary Patent Court (UPC) team, and has analysed and discussed the implications of over 150 decisions issued by the new Court. She is one of Marks & Clerk's foremost experts on the case law of the UPC, and has advised a number of clients on the changing landscape of the Court.
She holds a first class honours degree (MPhys) in Theoretical Physics from the University of York, with academic experience including high performance computing, machine learning and quantum computing. She obtained the UK Patent Law Foundation qualification in March 2024 and the UK Patent Law Final qualification in March 2026, and was registered as a UK Patent Attorney in April 2026. She also completed the Stanford University & DeepLearning.AI Machine Learning Specialisation in December 2022.
