Overview & Expertise

Hernán Ríos is a Partner and Registered and Chartered Trade Mark Attorney (UK), and a qualified Chilean lawyer (non‑practising), based in London. He is part of the firm’s National Food & Drink team, advising clients in this sector on trade mark and brand protection matters. He also advises clients in a wide range of sectors such as automobile, transport, retail, fashion and financial services.

Hernán has international experience, having worked in Chile, the United States and Germany, and he regularly advises German and Latin American clients. He also supports UK-based clients on Latin American trade mark law, through professional contact in the region, with particular experience in Chilean matters.

His practice focuses on providing clear, practical guidance on cross-border trade mark issues, working closely with clients operating in multiple jurisdictions. His experience across different legal systems helps clients manage and coordinate their brand protection strategies internationally.

Hernán works closely with Japanese and Korean clients.

Hernán holds an LLM in Intellectual Property (Magister Lvcentinus) from the University of Alicante and a law degree from the Universidad Católica in Santiago. He is a member of ITMA, ASIPI and INTA, and is fluent in English, German and Spanish, with conversational Portuguese.
