Overview & Expertise

George is a UK and European Patent Attorney based in the firm’s Manchester and Cambridge offices. He has experience drafting and prosecuting patent applications across a broad range of technologies, including semiconductor devices, sensors, opto electronics, software implemented inventions, medical technologies, telecommunications, and mechanical systems.

He works with clients ranging from start ups, universities and spin outs through to multinational corporations. His work includes collaborating with inventors and in house counsel to identify new inventions, develop patent portfolios, and implement effective IP strategies.

George’s practice is international in scope. He regularly coordinates global patent prosecution programmes and works closely with foreign associates in key jurisdictions. He frequently works alongside US patent counsel to support clients entering the US market.

Before joining Marks & Clerk in 2019, George completed a PhD in Photon Physics at the University of Manchester, focusing on the optical properties of semiconductor quantum well structures for energy efficient lighting. He subsequently undertook postdoctoral research on the electronic properties of nitride semiconductors. He is a Chartered Patent Attorney (UK) and a European Patent Attorney, and speaks English.
