Eve McGlynn is a Trainee Patent Attorney based in Marks & Clerk’s Edinburgh office, working within the Electronics team. Her role includes drafting and prosecuting patent applications and supporting clients on technical legal and strategic IP queries.
Eve has experience prosecuting computer-implemented inventions across multiple jurisdictions, including Europe and the US, and has worked on applications relating to simulation and machine learning. She has developed experience in addressing patentability objections, with a focus on identifying and articulating the technical contribution of software-based inventions. Her practice also extends to medical devices, telecommunications, and power and energy technologies, and she has experience with registered designs.
She is familiar with the European patent grant and validation process and works with foreign associates to meet local requirements. Eve also supports colleagues in reviewing Unitary Patent Court decisions and prepares commentary on relevant case law developments.
Eve holds a PhD in Electronics and Nanoscale Engineering from the University of Glasgow, where her research focused on the design and fabrication of implantable neural probes for epilepsy treatment as part of the Horizon 2020 HERMES-FET project. Her work included hands-on experience in fabrication at the James Watt Nanofabrication Centre, which informs her understanding of complex electronic and medical technologies.
