Ella Newell is a Senior Associate and Chartered Trade Mark Attorney based in Marks & Clerk’s Edinburgh office. She advises clients on all aspects of trade mark protection, from registration and portfolio management through to enforcement.
She works with a broad range of clients, including multinational organisations, SMEs and individual brand owners, across sectors such as food and drink, fashion, publishing, industry and fast-moving consumer goods. Her practice includes a particular focus on the Scottish market, including the whisky, spirits and food and drink sectors.
Ella is experienced in brand clearance and trade mark searching, as well as complex assignments and recordals, including associated due diligence projects. She also regularly advises on contentious matters and negotiations, helping clients resolve disputes in a pragmatic and commercially focused manner.
Ella holds an LLB (Hons) in Law and French from the University of Glasgow. She joined Marks & Clerk in 2016 and qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2019.
