Edward qualified as a Singapore Registered Patent Attorney in 2015 and as a Chartered (UK) Patent Attorney in 2021. 

Edward holds a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and MSc in Intellectual Property Management from the National University of Singapore. Prior to joining the patent profession, Edward worked as a design engineer on automotive projects, one of which was a military medical vehicle which became subject to a patent infringement claim. He was since exposed to the IP industry and subsequently joined a boutique IP firm before Marks & Clerk. 

Edward has experience with patent drafting and prosecution of patent applications, as well as advising on patentability and infringement. His practice extends over a broad range of technology fields including mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, medical devices, semiconductor systems, and computer-implemented inventions. He works together with foreign firms to assist clients in obtaining multi-jurisdictional protection for their designs and inventions. 

Edward is in the Examination Committee for the Singapore Patent Agents Qualifying Examination, and is a volunteer in the WIPO Inventor Assistance Programme. Edward was named an IP Rising Star from 2020 to 2024 by Managing Intellectual Property.
