Overview & Expertise

Alex is an Associate based in the Marks & Clerk Manchester office and is part of the Software and Electronics team. He assists with the drafting and prosecution of patent applications across a range of jurisdictions. His work focuses on telecommunications, where he has developed experience in patent prosecution during the international phase and the European regional phase. He also supports drafting and prosecution work across related technologies, including artificial intelligence and optical systems.

Alex’s technical background is in physics and materials science. He holds a PhD in Advanced Metallics from the University of Manchester, where his research used atomic scale simulations to investigate material degradation under neutron irradiation in nuclear environments. He also holds an MSci in Theoretical Physics from the University of Glasgow. His technical training supports a structured and analytical approach to patent drafting and prosecution.
