The Luxembourg Patent Office has finally announced that some fees will increase from July 1, 2022.

In substance, the filing fee (for a patent application) will increase from €30 to €40 and the search fee from €250 to €450. In addition, a new fee for early publication has been introduced (€49).

The other fees such as the fee for filing an application for a Supplementary Protection Certificate (SPC) or a paediatric extension (PE), the renewal fees and the fees for entries and changes in the patent register remain unchanged.

Therefore, if you or your clients are considering filing a Luxembourg patent application soon, it may be worth filing it before July 1, 2022 to enjoy the current level of official fees before their increase.

Do not hesitate to get in touch if you need advice or assistance with any aspect of a patent or SPC/PE before the Luxembourg Patent Office.
