Tom is an intellectual property lawyer who advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious IP matters.
As part of his contentious practice, Tom has advised clients involved in patent, copyright, and trade mark disputes. In terms of patent work, he has recent experience of advising clients in the TMT, electronics and software sectors (including on FRAND and SEP issues) as well as in life sciences and engineering. He has experience of litigation in both the High Court and IPEC.
Tom’s commercial practice involves working with clients of all sizes to achieve their commercial objectives. This involves drafting and negotiating settlement agreements, licensing agreements, acquisition documents, and bespoke-purpose commercial contracts.
Tom graduated from Imperial College London in 2009 with a first class MSci in Physics with Theoretical Physics. He then trained and qualified as a Solicitor at a magic circle firm before joining Marks & Clerk Law in November 2016. Due to his technical background, Tom has a particular interest in the telecoms, software, and technology sectors. Tom also has a keen interest in esports, VR/AR, and disruptive technologies.
