Michael Street

Mike’s extensive experience includes securing patent protection in the UK, Europe, the US and many other territories covering technologies ranging from optical sensors and imaging systems, lasers, computers, software and electronics across a range of different industry sectors including medical devices, communications, defence, oil and gas, and renewable energy.

Mike also successfully represents clients at oral proceedings in front of the Opposition Division and the Board of Appeal at the European Patent Office, as well as advising clients on patent infringement matters in the UK.

Before entering the patent profession in 2006, Mike jointly founded a start-up company to develop optical switching devices for optical communication systems. Prior to that, he enjoyed a successful career as a Senior Device Development Engineer with responsibility for developing planar lightwave circuit devices for optical communications, and as a post-doctoral Research Assistant working on high-speed semiconductor lasers.

Mike holds a MEng in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, and a PhD in semiconductor integrated optics.
