Simon specialises in all aspects of trade mark law, including transactional work, licensing and franchising arrangements, enforcement of rights, portfolio management and disputes. He has a particular focus on China, and his clients include many leading US corporations in fields as diverse as the entertainment industry, the food and beverage industry, mineral exploration and engineering companies and financial institutions.

Simon graduated from the University of Essex with a degree in Law 1985. He joined the London office of Marks & Clerk in that year. Simon qualified as a UK Trade Mark Agent by examination in 1991. He is a UK Registered Trade Mark Attorney and is a member of the UK Institute of Trade Mark Attorneys, the Hong Kong Institute of Trade Mark Practitioners, the International Trade Mark Association, the Asian Patent Attorneys Association, and the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Society. Simon joined the Hong Kong office of Marks & Clerk in July 1991, became a partner in 1993 and Managing Partner of the Hong Kong office of Marks & Clerk in 1994.

Simon is mentioned in Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars 2016, and is listed as an expert by Who’s Who Legal. He is also recommended in the WTR1000 2016 guide.
