Justin Thuss is an associate and registered Canadian patent agent in the Ottawa office of Marks & Clerk Canada. Justin graduated from the University of Alberta with a Ph.D. in Chemistry where he studied the production of pharmaceutically relevant molecules by fungal enzymes, including iterative polyketide synthases (PKSs) and unique oxygenases. During his scientific career, Justin co-authored publications in high-impact scientific journals, including the Nature journal series and the Journal of the American Chemical Society (JACS).
Before joining Marks & Clerk, Justin trained as a patent agent at an international law firm. Justin currently provides patent prosecution and patent drafting services in several subject areas including organic chemistry, biochemistry, agricultural and plant technology, biology, pharmaceutical sciences, clean technology, and oil and gas technology.
Justin works directly with both domestic and international clients with the prosecution of Canadian and global patent portfolios. Justin specializes in assisting clients with patent applications with multi-disciplinary subject matter, such as at the interface between organic chemistry and biology.
