Marks & Clerk congratulates litigation partner, Amrita V. Singh, incoming Chair of the Ontario Bar Association’s Equality Committee and Member of its Board.
The OBA’s Equality Committee was established in September 1992 to examine the impact of race, ancestry, place of origin, colour, ethnic origin, citizenship, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, marital status, family status or disability on the OBA's by-laws, electoral processes, policies, submissions, and activities. The Committee also identifies incidences of inequality of opportunity in the legal profession in Ontario based on the above-noted grounds and recommends methods to eliminate such inequalities. In addition, the Committee has been charged with examining and providing recommendations regarding the ability of the legal institutions in Ontario to serve the needs of historically disadvantaged equity seeking groups, such as those identified above.
