Currently, only the nationality of all inventors is necessary at the time of filing. For Chinese inventors, an ID number is also required. In the case of foreign inventors, while the identification document number is not required at filing, it may be requested by the examiner later in the process. Given that regulations have been established for the submission of identification document numbers, we recommend gathering this information in advance to facilitate the process, especially in case of any difficulties in contacting the inventors later.
