Earlier this month, Law360 reported on the recent promotions of three members of our Canadian team across our patents and trademarks practices. The promotions were effective February 1, 2026, with Evangellos Vekris and Justin Smith being named as partners, while Shannon Young was promoted to principal.
Evangellos is a patent agent in the Toronto office, where he works on patent and design drafting and prosecution across a range of fields including materials science, metallurgy, automotive, oil and gas, and manufacturing.
Justin is a lawyer and patent agent in the Ottawa office. His practice focuses on patent prosecution in areas such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, biotechnology, medical devices and consumer products. He also advises life sciences clients on Canada’s regulatory framework for patented and innovative drugs.
Shannon is a trademark agent based in the Ottawa office. Her practice includes trademark prosecution, opposition and cancellation proceedings, as well as portfolio management and clearance work at both the national and global levels. She advises clients across industries including automotive, electronics and chemicals.
