The UK Department for Business and Trade (DBT) have recently announced a Canada Space Investment Mission for Canadian companies to explore the UK space sector, network with key stakeholders, and explore growth opportunities in the UK market.
This mission builds on Canada’s commitment to a sovereign launch capability and the UK’s deepening integration of its space leadership, underlining this mission’s strategic importance. It arrives on the heels of Canada’s 2025 federal budget allocating nearly C$200 million over three years to develop a sovereign rocket launch capability, marking a decisive turn toward national space independence and defence-linked space infrastructure.
The anchor event of the programme, Space-Comm Europe, serves as a key meeting point for industry, investors, and government decision-makers—drawing over 5,000 participants, 200+ speakers, and 190 exhibitors and functioning as a crucial networking and procurement ‘launchpad’ for space ventures across Europe. Complementing the expo, the mission includes visits to leading space clusters across England, Wales, and Scotland, ensuring participants witness the full scope of the UK’s regional space excellence, from cutting-edge satellite innovation to launch and servicing facilities.
To apply for the mission, you must meet the below eligibility criteria:
- Must be a Canadian company operating in the space sector
- The company must be Canadian headquartered, at least 24 months old and be generating revenue
- Must not have taken part in previous DBT-led Canada-UK space investment missions
- The Mission delegate must be a founding member of the company or at C-suite level
- Company must be committed to establishing a partnership or presence in the UK within 1-3 years as part of its international business plan
- Ensure that your submission includes information about the company and its plans for establishing or expanding its presence in the UK market.
