Mike Williams

Mike specialises in patent matters relating to computer software, computer hardware and business methods. Mike's practice includes work emanating from a broad range of clients from large multinational companies to universities and SMEs. Mike’s day to day practice involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications throughout the world, and he regularly advises clients on matters of infringement and validity.

Mike has particular experience of patent matters relating to various aspects of computer science including data storage systems, signal processing, image analysis including medical image processing, communications protocols, computer graphics, methods of human-computer interaction, compiler design, virtualisation, and computer implemented business methods. Mike also has experience in the area of lithographic systems, analogue and digital electronics.

Mike graduated from The University of Manchester with a Masters degree in Computer Science before joining Marks & Clerk. He subsequently obtained Postgraduate Certificate in Intellectual Property Law from The University of Manchester, before qualifying as both a Chartered Patent Attorney and a European Patent Attorney. Mike became a partner of the firm in 2016.
