Daniel Talbot-Ponsonby

Daniel specialises in the patenting of inventions related to nuclear fission and fusion (with particular  emphasis on the use of high temperature supercondutors), diamond physics, lasers, opto-electronics, magnetic resonance spectroscopy and telecommunications.  He also has wide experience of patent work in other fields, particularly in the oil industry.  He works with many types of clients and is focussed on providing commercially useful advice so that IP protection fits into a wider strategy.

Daniel has considerable experience in the drafting, prosecution and opposition of UK, European and international patent applications, and in infringement and validity matters. His clients include large multinational companies and smaller UK companies. After beginning his training with a firm of patent attorneys in London, Daniel joined Marks & Clerk in 1999, gaining the Gill prize for general excellence in qualifying as a Chartered Patent Attorney. He became a Partner of the firm in 2004 and after three years managing the Oxford office is now a member of the Board of Management of Marks & Clerk International.

Daniel graduated from Oxford University with an honours degree in Physics, specialising in solid-state and particle physics, and was then awarded a DPhil for research into atomic point defects in CVD diamond.
