We are pleased to announce that Matthijs Branderhorst has been appointed to a leadership role on the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Design Rights Committee.
Founded in 1897, AIPLA is a leading association for IP professionals, dedicated to advancing excellence in patent, trade mark, copyright, design and trade secret law. The Association's work influences IP policy and professional standards both in the United States and internationally.
Within the AIPLA, the Design Rights Committee monitors legislative and judicial developments affecting industrial design protection, including design patents, trade dress, and copyright-based design rights, and prepares expert recommendations to the AIPLA Board of Directors.
Matthijs has been appointed as co-chair of the International Policy & Practice subcommittee of the Design Rights committee, bringing UK and European perspectives to monthly discussions on design law developments.
"I am honoured to join the AIPLA Design Committee and contribute to its important work in shaping design law policy. Design rights are increasingly critical to protecting designs across industries, and I look forward to collaborating with my fellow committee members from around the world to enhance the enforceability of these rights for clients and practitioners." said Matthijs of his appointment.
“We are delighted to welcome Matthijs Branderhorst to the AIPLA Design Rights Committee. His extensive expertise in UK and European design law will be invaluable as we continue to address the evolving challenges in design protection globally.” added Justin DeAngelis, Chair of the Design Rights Committee.
