A new practice relating to the issuance of trademark registration certificates will be implemented by the China National Intellectual Property Administration (“CNIPA”) in 2022. According to a recent CNIPA announcement, paper trademark registration certificates will no longer be issued from 1 January 2022 and electronic certificates of registration can be downloaded from CNIPA online database instead.
During the transitional period from 15 October 2021 to 31 December 2021, the CNIPA will issue both paper and electronic versions of trademark registration certificates until the new practice is in place.
