Yumi works in the field of chemistry and has particular experience in polymer chemistry, detergent compositions, printing ink compositions, material science, catalysis, nanotechnology and fluorocarbon chemistry. She also has extensive experience in the field of pharmaceuticals, drug delivery and formulations, as well as medical devices.
Yumi handles a wide variety of work including drafting of new applications, worldwide patent prosecution, particularly in the UK and Europe, portfolio management and freedom to operate opinions. She also has experience in opposition and appeal proceedings before the European Patent Office. Besides English, Yumi is a conversational Japanese speaker and has experience of working with Japanese clients.
Yumi graduated from the Imperial College London with an honours degree in chemistry, and subsequently completed her PhD on the synthesis of novel aldolase mimics at UCL. Yumi joined Marks & Clerk in 2016.
