Jason is a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney and Senior Associate involved in the registration, protection, enforcement and management of UK, EU and International Trade Marks. Jason acts for a broad spectrum of clients ranging from large-cap multi-national companies to domestic start-ups and individuals, advising on a wide variety of contentious and non-contentious trade mark matters and passing off.

Jason was recognised in the 2021, 2022 and 2023 editions of The Legal 500 as a 'key lawyer' in the Marks & Clerk trade mark team. He was listed as one of the recommended trade mark practitioners in Scotland by World Trademark Review 1000 2021 and 2022. Jason was named as a 'Rising Star' in the Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) IP Stars 2022.

Jason has particular expertise of working with Japanese clients and has been part of the Japanese territory group since joining the firm back in 2013. He visits Japan at least once a year.

Jason is part of the national Food & Drinks Leadership Team with a large number of his clients operating within the sector, most noticeably Scottish whisky and gin distilleries. Jason is the founder and editor of Marks & Clerk's Scottish Food & Drink publication, Scran & sIPs.

Jason previously worked in the London office and moved to the Edinburgh office in 2018 to focus on the Scottish region. Jason works from the Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen offices to service his clients throughout Scotland.

Prior to joining Marks & Clerk, Jason obtained a BA (Hons) in English and American Literature, followed by a LLB (Hons) in Law. Jason has also completed the PGCert in Trade Mark Law and Practice at Queen Mary, University of London and the PGCert in Trade Mark Practice at Nottingham Trent University. Jason qualified as a Chartered Trade Mark Attorney in 2016.

Jason was a member of the ITMA Education Committee between August 2014 to August 2016, and is now part of the CITMA Formal Publications Working Group. Jason has helped edit several IP publications, including the CITMA & CIPA European Union Trade Mark Handbook
