Claire is an intellectual property lawyer who advises clients on trade marks, passing off, design rights and copyright matters. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Claire gained over 16 years’ of in-house legal experience in the publishing and brand licensing industries.
Claire has significant experience drafting/negotiating commercial contracts, and has advised clients in a wide range of sectors (including FMCG, fashion, retail, media and entertainment) on brand strategy, brand protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights. In addition, Claire has regularly advised on the early stage creation of brand extension programmes. Claire also has an interest in artificial intelligence.
Claire graduated from the University of Waikato in New Zealand in 1997 with a BSocSci (double major in Psychology and Geography), before moving to the UK. After completing her GDL and LPC, Claire trained at a top London firm before qualifying and joining Marks & Clerk in February 2020.
Outside of work, Claire enjoys films, the theatre, books, and music. She occasionally DJs.
