Lam Zhiyong

Zhiyong graduated from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) with a BSc (Hons) degree in Chemistry and Biological Chemistry. He was subsequently awarded an A*STAR Graduate Scholarship to pursue a PhD at NTU in the field of Bio-Inorganic Chemistry, in collaboration with the Singapore Bioimaging Consortium at A*STAR. During his PhD studies, he investigated the synthesis and application of organometallic complexes for bio-optical sensing and imaging, with particular focus on developing novel metal-based bioassays and contrast agents for use with optical techniques. The collaborative nature of his research also exposed him to other scientific disciplines in addition to bio-inorganic chemistry, such as nanotechnology, optics and cell biology. He has co-authored several research articles in peer-reviewed journals and is listed as the inventor of a patent family granted in Singapore, China and Europe.
