David Ward

David has considerable experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, material science and food technologies. In addition, David deals with mechanical inventions across a range of technologies such as locks, automotive (eg fuel systems, metal forming processes), medical implants (eg replacement joints, stents) and packaging. He spends a significant proportion of his time on opinion work and handling European Oppositions and Appeals.

David obtained a PhD in Organic Chemistry (synthesis of anti-viral nucleosides) from the University of Birmingham in 1992 and was subsequently awarded a Royal Society Fellowship to take up a post-doctoral research position in Aachen, Germany, working on aspects of asymmetric synthesis.

On returning to the UK, David successfully completed a Master's degree in IP Law at Queen Mary & Westfield College, London and then joined Marks & Clerk in 1996, where he became a Partner in 2002.

David was mentioned in Managing Intellectual Property’s IP Stars guide in 2016.
