Paul started his career in IP in 2010 working in the in-house patent department for Europe’s largest aerospace manufacturer after working there as an engineer. Whilst working as an engineer, he was listed as an inventor on a U.S. patent relating to an active inert gas distribution system. Paul subsequently moved into private practice where he qualified as both a Chartered (UK) and a European Patent Attorney in 2014. He also has experience of working for a large U.S. law firm, after which he joined Marks and Clerk in 2016.
Paul was awarded first class honours from the University of Liverpool, where he received an MEng in Aerospace Engineering. He spent the third year of his degree course at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA).
Paul’s patent practice is varied and he has experience of a variety of subject-matter covering mechanical, electromechanical, electronics, and computer-implemented inventions, including subject-matter on the borderline of patentability. He also handles design matters.
