Microbial infection: Point-of-care diagnostics

Published July 2015

Although this issue has been attracting headlines for some years now, we still face a serious threat from microbial resistance to drugs, compounded by misprescription of antimicrobials.

As part of our support for the Longitude Prize, a challenge with a £10m prize fund aiming to conserve antibiotics for future generations, we worked with CPA Global to have produce this report on patent filings in the area of point-of-care diagnostic tests. It gives an indication not only of the levels of research into such tests and the types of organisations applying for patents in this area, but also the focus of recent research.

Foreword by Geoff Mulgan, Chief Executive of Nesta and Longitude Prize committee member.

Introduction by Dr Paul Chapman, Partner here at Marks & Clerk and Longitude Prize advisory panel member, and Tim Griffiths, Chief Executive Officer of CPA Global.
